Faith Education

The principles of Sikhism inform everything we do at Khalsa. Our three Golden Rules are based on the founder of our religion, Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s teachings:

Naam Japo -We begin every day in the Darbar Sahib, praying, thinking about god and preparing our minds for the day. We keep Waheguru in our minds all day through our work and play.

Kirat Karo – We have high expectations of our children at all times in school. Our staff is dedicated to making sure that children work hard and achieve their potential. Children are taught about concepts like honesty, truthfulness and kindness.

Vand Chhako – Our expectations of children extend beyond the classroom; we have a large focus on our behaviour, how we interact with others and reflecting on our behaviour and actions. We expect children to be empathetic, considerate and helpful to others.

We teach children about their religion and others, encourage them to ask questions and explore the ideas and teachings therein. Children take part in Sikh Studies lessons throughout their time at Khalsa, learning about the major figures, stories and morals from our past which are kept alive by Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

We offer children the unique opportunity to take part in celebrations throughout the year. Children are able to perform seva such as reading Hukumnama or Ardas as part of celebrations which include the whole school community.
